Who Am I?
Who am I indeed?
My name is Steven Withrow. I am currently a senior in the Arts and Technology program at the University of Texas at Dallas, in (interestingly enough) Richardson, TX. Besides that little fact, I shall refrain from detailing additional boring tidbits about my personal life, except of course the fact that I am a musician, since that pertains directly to the subject matter of this blog.
I play the guitar; I have played for about seven years now. I play AT the piano and the bass, and dabble in recording. However, my main focus over the years has been learning and performing songs written by other people, whether those people be mainstream recording artists, independent musicians, or just my friends and family. While it IS rewarding to be able to effectively duplicate a song and have it sound at least vaguely like the original, I tend to feel as if I have slipped into a rut at times. So…………
I have tried (and continue to try) my hand at writing music. But in attempting this feat, I have discovered that writing music is by no means as easy as it initially looks. The complexities of composing, or at least piecing together, music can be overwhelming at times, to say nothing of the sometimes-hideous difficulty of coming up with lyrics that aren’t so cheesy that they make listeners want to run screaming.
And this is why I have started this particular blog.
Perhaps other musicians will benefit from my forthcoming research and clarification as much as I will.

I love your site. Keep it up !
